ShowMe of the Week: Photosynthesis

Share:

Photosynthesis is the process where plants use the sun energy to turn light into chlorophyll. It is considered as the most important chemical process on earth. This week’s ShowMe by Ginger Briggs describes the process of  photosynthesis and how plants are able to create their own food and how they provide food and energy for all living creatures who eat the plants. Hope you will find this ShowMe useful.

Did you know that almost the 70% of the world’s oxygen is produced by phytoplankton photosynthesis in the world’s oceans? Moreover, biologists have discovered a type of bacteria living in the ocean that are able to conduct photosynthesis using very small amount of light from hydrothermal vents. This is a ground for consideration that other type of life can exist not only deep in the ocean but even on other planets.
